1. Rawtopia: The secret to this spot’s goodness is in the name: each of the artfully assembled dishes served is cooked at low temps to preserve the vital enzymes and nutrients—not to mention the ingredients here are also organically and sustainably grown, non-GMO, and gluten free. With an extensive brunch, lunch, dinner, and drink menu (!), you can get a healthy, delicious bite absolutely anytime. We recommend the tabouli, seaweed roll with sweet curried almond-ginger sauce, or bison burger (and chocolate cake, because obviously). 3961 S Wasatch Blvd., hours vary
2: The Rose Establishment: As far as delightfully light atmosphere and eats go, it's hard to beat The Rose. Offering up a divine selection of brunch, lunch, coffee and tea, this spot's got a wide selection of vegan, gluten free, and locally made dishes. Let us be clear: "coffee shop food" this is not. The menu is ever-changing, but the frittattas and tartines (we're partial to the salmon) are always a sound bet--and anything from the glass case of fresh-baked goodies is sure to serve as the perfect digestif. 235 S. 400 W., Mon. - Fri., 7:00a - 6:00p, Sat. - Sun., 8:00a - 6:00p, food served until 4:00p
3. Buds: This centrally located spot has all the street cred expected of a quaint, local sandwich shop, but specializes in whipping up stellar vegan and vegetarian options in leu of more traditional, meat-based fare. From its walk up window, Buds is doling out health-conscious reimaginings of everything from deli hoagies to philly cheesesteaks. And, while meat and dairy are absent from most meals here, flavor is always a stalwart mainstay. We’re particularly keen on the Barbacoa burrito (made with can’t-believe-it’s-not-pulled-pork grilled jackfruit)…and a zucchini chocolate chip cookie is never a bad idea, either. 509 E. 300 S., Mon. - Sat. 11:00a - 5:00p
4. Brass Smoothies: A go-to for all things blended, Brass is all about combining healthy, quality ingredients in the most delightful of ways. Every smoothie whipped up here boasts all kinds of immune boosting, antioxidant-rich qualities, but with a taste more akin to a slightly-less-sweet milkshake than anything else. You’d be hard-pressed to find one unsatisfactory item on the entire menu, but we’re particularly enamored with the Numero Uno (almond butter and coconut manna!), The Guru (matcha, avocado, banana, and dates!) and The Wake Up Call (cold brew, peanut butter, and spinach!). This is sort of like the adult human equivalent of sneaking your dog a vitamin wrapped in a treat…and we’re more than happy to take our daily dose. 925 E. 900 S., Mon. - Sat. 8:00a - 5:00p, Sun. 10:00a - 2:00p
5. Pulp Lifestyle Kitchen: With a few SLC locations, Pulp concocts delicious/nutricious renditions of brekky and lunch basics that will keep both your belly and bank account full. Until 11:00 am, we recommend Crowding the Plate (cage-free eggs, smashed avocado toast, turkey sausage, and hash) or Man Crush (quinoa, cage-free eggs, zucchini, spinach, mushrooms, and kale). Swinging by for a mid-workday snack? The Wrapper's Delight (grilled organic chicken breast or orange ginger tofu, sprouted lentil & kale salad, cucumber, beet pesto, and goat cheese crumbles in a whole wheat wrap) will more than hold you over in a sans-guilt hug 'til dinner time. Locations in Sandy, Liberty Park, and Downtown, hours vary
6. Zest Kitchen & Bar: Another of SLC’s coveted spots to get brunch, lunch, dinner, and an adult bevvy, Zest is one of our fav places for healthy eats that’re anything but granola. In the a.m., you can’t miss with the spicy jalapeno fritter (served with root veggie hash and maple syrup--yasss). For lunch and dinner, the stuffed avocado salad is a smash, and the baked zuc ’n’ cheese (mac, who?) is sublime. A tasty selection of fresh juices (by the glass or bottle) serves as the cold-pressed cherry on top. 275 S. 200 W., Mon. - Thurs. 11:00a - 9:00p, Fri. 11:00a - 10:00p, Sat. 10:00a - 10:00p, Sun. 10:00a - 9:00p
